Our Story

It started with one egg.

The Story of KID Mission Ghana

In 2016, a Catholic organization sent a builder to Dwenewoho, a quiet village tucked inside the Kintampo District of Ghana, to help set up a poultry farm and lay the groundwork for what would one day become an agricultural university. His first assignment was simple: put up decent housing for the Catholic priest overseeing the project. Come, do your work, go home.

But life does not always follow the plan you brought with you.

Dwenewoho was the kind of village that had its own way of doing things. The people there worshipped their gods, honored their traditions, and did not easily open their doors to strangers. What caught this man's attention what stayed with him and refused to leave were the children. They were not in school. Many of them were not eating well either.

One Egg. One Child. One Change.

A small, simple thing that started something far greater

Empowering Children Since 2016

The families of Dwenewoho were doing their best. In those conditions, that meant putting food on the table before anything else. School could wait. Hunger could not.

He thought about it. He could not stop thinking about it. So he did what he could with what he had. He reasoned that if hunger was the problem keeping children away from school, then he would deal with the hunger first.

He started bringing eggs, one egg for every child who came to class that day. Not a big thing. Not an elaborate programme. Just an egg. A small, simple thing.

"You know how it is in Ghana when someone shows genuine care, people notice. The children came. And when they came, they came back."

Word spread the way it does in small communities, from one household to the next. From there, one thing led to another, as it often does when the heart is in the right place.

Formally Established

June 2016 by Kojo Dankwah

He began showing up for the community beyond the classroom by bringing something during celebrations, stepping in when there was a need, staying when most outsiders would have finished their work and left. That consistency, that willingness to remain, meant more than any single gift.

That was how KID Mission Ghana was formally established in June 2016, based in Kojo Dankwah, and built on a conviction as old as community itself: that every human being, no matter the village they were born in or the family they came from, deserves a fair chance at life. A chance to eat. A chance to sit in a classroom and learn. A chance to be seen and known as someone who matters.

Since then, the work has grown beyond what one man with a bag of eggs could have imagined. Today, KID Mission Ghana serves children, orphans, widows, veterans, the homeless, animals, schools, and workers who have been left behind by systems that were supposed to look after them but did not.

It has never been about big announcements or short-term gestures. The work here is the quiet kind, consistent, rooted in community, and done with the long view in mind.

Empowering Communities Across Ghana

Our Conviction

"Every kid has a right to a good education and to a healthy lifestyle."

The kind of work that takes time. The kind that, God willing, leaves something real for the next generation to build on. It is never about big announcements or short-term gestures. It is steady, consistent, rooted in community, and done with the long view in mind.

Education

Every child deserves a seat in a classroom. We remove the barriers that keep them away.

Nourishment

Hunger cannot wait. We address food and health needs so learning can happen.

Community

We stay. We show up. We build trust through consistency, not short-term gestures.

The Work Continues

Today, KID Mission Ghana serves children, orphans, widows, veterans, the homeless, animals, schools, and workers who have been left behind by systems that were supposed to look after them but did not.

We are expanding and becoming stronger by bringing schools closer to every child, providing clean drinking water through boreholes, deworming children every three months, upgrading classrooms, canteens, and sanitation facilities.

All contributors and benefactors are welcome. We believe that every cent counts, and we invite you to become part of this ongoing story because what started with one egg deserves to reach every child who needs it.

"It started with one egg."
